In Years 7, 8 and 9, students study music for one hour a week. They follow a varied and practical curriculum and throughout the two years develop skills in listening and understanding, performing and composing a variety of musical styles

KS4 GCSE Music  - Edexcel course
This is built up of:
60% coursework
2 original compositions
2 performances (1 solo, ensemble)
40% terminal listening exam based on four areas of study taught over the 2 years>
These are:
1 – Western Classical Music 1600 to 1899 
2 – Music in the 20th Century 
3 – Popular Music in Context 
4 - World Music.   
Within each area of study there are three set works. These are pieces of music that the student has to study and will be questioned on in their final listening exam.
